Danko Jones

Can Canadians Kick Ass? Yes. Yes they can.

Hard hitting Danko Jones and his band hail from Toronto Canada and recently stopped by Harlows Nightclub in Sacramento California, MFM was there to witness the trio tear up the stage! 

I don't know what the amp settings are for Danko Jones but it must have a "punch in the gut" setting because his opening drive into "I Gotta Rock" was visceral and merciless.  It became immediately evident that the opening band did what they could but in no way could have prepared the crown of 500+ for what Danko, John Calbrese and the crew were thrownin down.  Danko was throttling the neck of his Gibson SG in almost an illegal way, crushing chords and fingering the fret board like it was prom night...how does his hand get up and down the neck so fast?  Damn, he's good.  

John Calbrese, bass player and crowd hype man, added the backing to Danko's rip fest and he did not disappoint.  I don't know much about bass note structure but John's playing was tight and fast, it had to be to keep up with the big man.  

Still can't believe this show was going down in a small club in downtown Sacramento, these guys have toured around the world and played some the biggest stages over the past 20 years as a group.  They must have run outta gas or something. I didn't care...it was a great night for low dough and after the merch purchases I was in for less than a Benjamin. Not bad.
